The Peninsula Shanghai Presents a Curated Schedule of Festive Events and Experiences for All the Family

The Peninsula Shanghai offers a glittering schedule of events and promotions to make the festive season special for all the family. Ranging from an extravagant Tree Lighting Ceremony at The Lobby, exclusive weekend brunches at Michelin-starred Sir Elly’s Restaurant, special festive hampers from The Peninsula Boutique and much, much more, the hotel will be a hub of Bund-side holiday cheer throughout the festive period.

This year’s festivities commence from Friday 24 November, with a Tree Lighting Ceremony and cocktail reception at The Lobby. Among the beautifully decorated interiors of The Lobby, guests will be treated to a spectacular array of Christmas delights – made by The Peninsula’s very own culinary team – while sipping complimentary drinks and enjoying the sophisticated stylings of a live jazz singer and the talents of Wellington College International School children’s choir. For the eighth consecutive year, The Peninsula Shanghai’s Trees of Hope charitable initiative will be launched, with guests invited to purchase bespoke decorations to hang on the Christmas tree with proceeds donated to Make-A-Wish® Foundation. 

The Peninsula Boutique is the perfect place for gift shoppers seeking the authentic taste of Christmas. Elegantly packaged gifts include a selection of deluxe hampers filled with gourmet treats exclusive to The Peninsula Boutique. Back by popular demand are the artisanal Christmas Fruit Cake made from handpicked dried fruits soaked in Cognac. The fruit maceration for this rich winter dessert begins in an oak barrel one year in advance, and a short video made during last year’s festive preparations. Traditional Festive Delicacies—Artisan Christmas Fruit Cake

You will be delighted by The Peninsula Boutique’s artisan Christmas Fruit Cake. Prepared from a heirloom recipe dating back over 100 years from Executive Chef Terrence Crandall’s grandmother “Josephine”. The Peninsula Christmas Fruit Cake is a tantalising blend of the finest fresh and dried fruits soaked for a year in Cognac, premium nuts and fragrant spices. Served with afternoon tea, a slice of Christmas Fruit Cake is a treasured seasonal treat.

Peninsula Fruit Cake is priced at RMB 320. 

Peninsula Hampers at The Peninsula Boutique

Three specially designed Peninsula hampers are guaranteed to spread some holiday cheer. Hampers consist of The Peninsula homemade chocolates, cookies, stollens, Peninsula Snowpage dolls, fruit cakes, The Peninsula Champagne and festive stockings, etc.

The Peninsula Hamper is priced from RMB 1,888.  

Weekend Festive Brunch at Sir Elly’s: 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24 and 30 December 2017, 11:00-15:00

Sir Elly’s Michelin-starred Chef de Cuisine Hans Zahner and Executive Pastry Chef Lucien Gautier combine their talents to curate a fabulous festive brunch each Saturday and Sunday during December including foie gras terrine, fragrant lobster consommé, roasted duck magret, Christmas Floating Island and Crepes Station.

Priced at RMB 408* per person, plus an optional RMB 265* for unlimited consumption of Champagne 

Festive Children’s Brunch at Sir Elly’s: 9, 10 and 23 December 2017

An array of delicious treats will tempt the taste buds of junior diners at their very own themed buffet with ice cream station and cotton candy, while special kids activities, such as storytelling and Christmas stocking decoration, plus a visit by Santa Clause. Create their own Gingerbread cookie while the adults can sip champagne and dine at leisure on the festive brunch favorites including fruits de mer, roasted Australian wagyu beef bavette, a festive Crepe Station and signature Buche de Noel will be served at your table.

Priced at RMB 408* per adult, plus an optional RMB 265* for unlimited consumption of Champagne and RMB 288* per child aged 5-12 years old. All children will receive a complimentary Christmas gift.  

Festive Afternoon Tea at The Lobby: 23 November to 7 January 2017

Diners can share the legendary Peninsula Afternoon Tea with a twist of festive flair enriched by elegant seasonal decorations and popular festive tunes performed by the hotel’s resident musicians.

Priced at RMB 360* per person or RMB 680* for two. RMB 520* per person including a glass of Champagne, or RMB 960* for two persons. 

Christmas Eve Dinner: 24 December 2017

Two Michelin-starred Yi Long Court will offer Chef Tang’s exquisite eight-course Chinese Christmas dinner including tomato soup with bird’s nest and diced scallop, steamed grouper in black bean sauce and pan-fried beef tenderloin in honey pepper sauce(RMB 1,888* per person). Sir Elly’s also presents a Michelin-starred feast featuring a traditional six-course dinner, plus live music (RMB 2,888* per person). Festive diners at The Lobby can enjoy a five-course Christmas dinner plus live jazz (RMB 1,318* per person). Dinner packages of Yi Long Court and The Lobby will include a special raffle draw. 

Christmas Day Dinner: 25 December 2017

The highlight of the festive season is celebrated in gourmet style with Chef Hans Zahner at Sir Elly’s with a five-course modern European Christmas dinner (RMB 2,088*) harmonized with magnificent views of the Bund and the Pudong skyline. The Lobby offers a four-course evening dinner including unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks, plus live music (RMB 999*)

New Year’s Eve Dinner: 31 December 2017

Ring in the New Year at Yi Long Court. Chef Tang and his team will get the party started with a spectacular eight-course Cantonese dinner, accompanied by a lucky prize draw (RMB 2,008* per person). The Lobby (RMB 1,698*) brings the year’s gastronomic journey to a noble end with a six-course New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner accompanied by live music, a lucky prize draw and a complimentary gift and glass of Champagne.

Dance the night away into 2018 by reliving the British glamour of one of Hollywood’s glitziest and longest running film franchises – 007.
