The Peninsula Shanghai is pleased to announce the launch of its all new Pan-Asian Inspired menu at The Balfour from December 19, situated in the beautiful heritage surrounds of the Former British Consulate building at No.1 Waitanyuan. The Balfour’s Michelin-starred culinary team has curated extensive menus for both lunch and dinner, including a delightful range of appetizers, entrees and desserts.
Inspired by the positive responses and eating habits of The Peninsula Shanghai’s patrons, The Balfour’s new Pan Asian menu reflects the most popular dishes enjoyed at the institutions food and beverage outlets. The Peninsula’s experienced culinary team enjoyed a week-long gastronomic expedition to Malaysia and Singapore in order to explore the authentic traditional ingredients and flavours available in the region before curating a distinctively Southeast Asian-inspired menu. Now The Balfour will be at foreground of Pan Asian style cooking on The Bund.
The a la carte menu available for both lunch and dinner sittings includes a broad cross-section of quintessential Asian delights. Appetizers include Gado-gado, Thai Style Baby Oyster Omelette, Slady Fingers, Prawns Otak Otak, Coconut Soup and Chicken and Beef Satay. Entrees Stir-fried Eggplant, Beef Rending, Char Siew, Laksa Noodle Soup, Hakka Fried Pork Ribs, Grilled Marbled Goby, Nasi Goreng, Hainan Chicken and Rice, and Indian Vegetables. Desserts will include Durian Pie, Coconut Sticky Rice, Deep Fried Banana and Hiso hiso.
From Australian Wagyu to Spanish Iberico pork to Thai durian monthong, The Peninsula’s culinary team works tirelessly to source the finest ingredients available in order to best compliment the myriad of dynamic flavours available across Asia, from the Indian subcontinent to the Malay Archipelago.
The full a la Carte menu is available every day while weekend brunch and bar snack menus will also be available from 11:30-14:00 and 12:00-22:00 respectively, both featuring a condensed selection of dishes to suit all occasions and appetites.
