The Peninsula Manila has been a longtime supporter of the arts. Over the last 41 years, it has assembled a sizable collection by some of the most notable names in Philippine art, of the likes of Ang Kiukok, Malang, and BenCab. But the jewel in its collection is probably National Artist Napoleon Abueva’s monumental “Sunburst” sculpture that crowns its soaring atrium under which guests gather every afternoon to enjoy the classic Peninsula Afternoon Tea.
Throughout the month of September, there’s a new reason to enjoy Afternoon Tea at The Lobby, especially if one has an eye for art and other objects of beauty.
Executive Pastry Chef Xavier Castello and his team have created an immersive experience with The Well Appointed Life Afternoon Tea inspired by the colors and textures of the paintings, sculptures, and other stunning pieces that are on exhibit at the third floor gallery for Salcedo Aunctions’ The Well Appointed Life at The Peninsula.
One of the Philippine’s most prestigious and highly anticipated fine arts and collectibles auctions, The Well-Appointed Life at The Peninsula feature four sales categories – Important Philippine Art (featuring works by masters such as Fernando Amorsolo and BenCab and contemporary works by the likes of Jose John Santos III and Rodel Tapaya), Connoisseur Collection (fine furniture, objets d’art, haute couture, international artworks, rare books, and valuable maps), Fine Jewelry & Timepieces (investment-grade diamond and statement colored gemstone pieces and watches from the world’s leading makers) and Rare Automobiles (collectible European and American motorcars).
The 500 lots up for bids will be on exhibit at the third floor Gallery of The Peninsula Manila from September 15 to 23, 2017. Auction dates are on September 23 – 24, 2017 in the Rigodon Ballroom.
Delicious nibbles from The Well Appointed Life Afternoon Tea set include Grand Marnier chocolate tart and caramel – milk chocolate relegieuse; mango cheesecake and queso de bola macarons; grilled zucchini, hummus, red pepper, and balsamic onion turkey salad; spinach and goat cheese quiche; celery, onion, tomato bread and salmon roulade; and many others.
